Sunrisers Hyderabad Squad and Schedule… Intense action is on now…

Introduction

Sunrisers Hyderabad (stylized as SunRisers Hyderabad, abbr. SRH) epitomizes a professional franchise cricket team from Hyderabad, Telangana, India, vying in the esteemed Indian Premier League (IPL). Helmed by Kalanithi Maran of the SUN Group, the franchise emerged in 2012 following the termination of the Hyderabad-based Deccan Chargers by the IPL. Under the guidance of Daniel Vettori and the leadership of Pat Cummins, they predominantly grace the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad, accommodating up to 55,000 fervent fans.

Making their IPL debut in 2013, Sunrisers Hyderabad swiftly left their mark, clinching a playoff berth in their inaugural season and securing a commendable fourth-place finish. Their pinnacle moment arrived in the 2016 season when they clinched their maiden IPL title, triumphing over the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 8 runs in the final showdown. Since then, the team has maintained a consistent presence in the playoffs, underscoring their competitive mettle. Despite reaching the finals in 2018, they were bested by the Chennai Super Kings.

Renowned for their sterling bowling prowess, Sunrisers Hyderabad is lauded for their adeptness in defending low totals, solidifying their status as one of the league’s premier bowling units. Notably, David Warner holds the distinction of being the team’s leading run-scorer, clinching the Orange Cap thrice in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Bhuvneshwar Kumar stands tall as the leading wicket-taker, securing the Purple Cap twice in 2016 and 2017.

However, the brand value of Sunrisers Hyderabad took a hit amid the COVID-19 pandemic, witnessing a 4 percent decline to US$57.4 million in 2020, amidst an overall dip in the IPL’s brand value to US$4.4 billion, as reported by Brand Finance.

History

In 2012, Sunrisers Hyderabad stepped in to fill the void left by the Deccan Chargers and made their inaugural appearance in the following year’s IPL season. Following the financial turmoil faced by the Deccan Chronicle, the franchise found new ownership under the Sun TV Network. The squad’s formation was formally declared in Chennai on December 18, 2012. Sun TV Network secured ownership rights with a bid of ₹85.05 crore (US$11 million) annually for a five-year tenure, just a week after the Chargers’ exit due to persistent financial woes.

Headquartered in Chennai, Sun TV Network Limited stands as one of India’s largest television networks, boasting 32 TV channels and 45 FM radio stations, thereby cementing its status as India’s premier media and entertainment conglomerate.

The team’s distinctive jersey was unveiled on March 8, 2013, accompanied by the release of the team anthem composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar on March 12, 2013. The unveiling of the team’s logo transpired on December 20, 2012, coinciding with the announcement of the team’s management lineup comprising Kris Srikkanth, now succeeded by seasoned veterans Muttiah Muralitharan, Tom Moody, and V. V. S. Laxman.
